Secondhand Dreamcar, an explosive soul/roots/blues band from Edmonton, is a true superband – a powerhouse collective of veterans of Canadian music who have worked on some of the finest jazz, funk, folk, soul, and blues projects ever created in Alberta. Collectively, they craft a distinct, funky, and lyrically-driven sound that journalist and programmer Peter North called the most exciting thing to come out of the city since k.d. lang and the Reclines.

One of CKUA’s favourite acts, Secondhand Dreamcar found its debut album Answer The Call at Number 6 on its Top 100 albums of 2024. They’ve also become instant Alberta festival favourites, tearing up the stages at Edmonton’s and Calgary’s International Blues Festivals, the Edmonton Folk Festival, the Bear Creek Festival, among others. Secondhand Dreamcar was recently nominated for a 2026 JUNO award for Blues Album of the Year.
